unethical design practice kills people

Yesterday’s National Journal’s transportation blog asks the following question: Would a long-term highway bill make a real difference in reducing traffic collisions?

No, not by itself. Not when infrastructure design is characterized by unethical practice that makes roads more deadly. Here are the 6 examples of unethical engineering:

  1. Ignore safety and welfare of the public.
  2. Making decisions outside area of expertise.
  3. Biased and false statements to public.
  4. Poor steward of investment dollars.
  5. Deceitful acts.
  6. Erode honor and usefulness of profession.
